PAHN Reconnects with the Asian Performing Arts Market
This October, PAHN is travelling to Asia to attend Hong Kong Expo, Shanghai International Arts Festival and Wuzhen Theatre Festival. The trip is part of our work to reconnect with the Asian performing arts market after the pandemic.
For the Hong Kong Expo, Gulli Sekse/ReArtica, Know Nation/Daniel Proietto, Claire Costa/Plexus Polaire has received travel support and will join PAHN on the trip. ReArtica represents Mirte Bogaert, Ingrid Berger Myhre, Nagelhus Schia Productions, Yohei Hamada, Anne-Mareike Hess.
International networks are an important part of PAHN’s work. By attending festivals and industry events abroad, we meet presenters, producers, artists and other colleagues who can become important contacts for the Norwegian performing arts field. These connections also help us bring international expertise and perspectives back to festivals and meeting places in Norway.
“It has been several years since we have been able to work as actively in this part of the world. So for us, this trip is really about meeting people again – both colleagues we already know and people we haven’t met before. We want to know what is happening in the Asian performing arts field, but we also want to make sure that people there know what is happening in Norway,” says Hege Knarvik Sande, CEO of PAHN.
Being present matters. Festivals and performing arts markets are places where conversations start, projects are discovered and relationships develop over time. For PAHN, travelling to Hong Kong, Shanghai and Wuzhen is therefore not only about presenting Norwegian performing arts, but also about listening, learning and understanding what is happening in these markets.
The trip is one step in rebuilding PAHN’s connections in Asia and creating more opportunities for exchange between the Norwegian and international performing arts fields.
Please reach out to us if you are in Hongkong and wish to connect!
